The 386SX computer with a Measurement Computing Corporation (formerly ComputerBoards, Inc) CIO-DIO24 digital I/O board connects to the interface terminal board. The CIO-DIO24 controls the stepper motor driver and senses the state of the microswitch that detects the home position of the sample carrier.
This view of the home end of the measuring system shows a u-channel sample on the sample carrier. Also note the location of the home position sensing microswitch.
The stepper motor and PIC Design 40 teeth No-Slip sprocket with a No-Slip positive drive belt.
Harken upright micro blocks guide the high-modulus polyethylene cord.
The Sapphire Instruments 5 cm x 5 cm square coil and the sample transport track.
